Marrakech has always been something of a pleasure, a marketplace where the southern tribesmen and Berber villagers bring their goods, spend their money, and find entertainment. For visitors, it’s an enduring fantasy—a city of immense beauty, low, red, and tent-like before a great shaft of mountains—immediately exciting.
Monuments and Landmarks: You will see the famous Koutoubia Tower (11th century), Bahia Palace (19th century), and Saadien Tombs (16th century). Jemaa el-Fna Square is an open space in the center of the city, serving as the stage for a long-established ritual where circles of onlookers gather around groups of acrobats, drummers, pipe musicians, dancers, storytellers, comedians, and fairground acts. You will also discover Marrakech’s luxury part, Hivernage, and the new city side, Gueliz. Later, you visit the most famous garden, Majorelle, and finally, the Palmeraie path, which has thousands of palm trees. You’ll also discover the leather area “les teinturiers,” where they make leather with different colors. Visit the Ederas Ben Youssef (Qur’anic School) and the Menara gardens.
